Store Editing Roadmap Update – Q1 2023

It’s time for another look at our Store Editing roadmap. Our team has been hard at work creating a no-code, block-based solution to make store customization easy with WooCommerce. This roadmap provides a high-level overview, not a complete list or timeline — it will change as we learn and adapt to users’ needs and the commerce landscape.

Check our previous updates.

NOW

Products Block and Product Archive Templates

This new block will power product archive blocks, allowing users to have more control over the experience. The team is fixing bugs and polishing the UX to ensure the block is available for anyone as soon as possible.

Our work on blockifying the Product Archive templates also provides a compatibility layer to ensure extensions modifying these views continue to work.

Global Styles support in the Cart and Checkout

We’re working towards having global styles support across the Cart and Checkout blocks to ensure a cohesive look and feel with any block theme.

Single Product Template

The template will soon be powered by blocks which will unlock more flexibility to have this critical page tailored to the user’s needs. The template will be accompanied by patterns designed with best practices in mind.

Please check the latest Snaps post for a comprehensive overview of all the work in progress.

NEXT

Order Confirmation page with Blocks

In addition to providing details about tracking information or delivery times, this page can increase customer satisfaction and revenue through cross-selling actions and more. Having it based on blocks is the first step toward a more engaging and flexible experience.

Early exploration of the Order Confirmation page

Category Grid Block and Patterns

Promoting categories in different forms and shapes is a must-have in many stores. Users will be able to create and use dynamic layouts in a blink of an eye.

Beyond the Single Product Template

We’ll leverage the learnings gathered from blockifying the single product template and expand the experience to other product types, such as variations.

LATER

Product Filtering

We aim to keep enhancing the product filtering features of our blocks, including a new block that allows users to filter by category.

Cart & Checkout Blocks conversion improvements

We’ll explore a series of enhancements and changes, including creating templates, to ensure we have the best-in-class experience and improve conversion rate.

And more

We’re also identifying and prioritizing key areas in our feature set where we should expand the functionality and improve performance.

And that’s it for today. We can’t wait to unveil these updates and see the impact they will have on our product experience. In the meantime, thank you for your continued support and feedback. 1. The team is fine-tuning some details before releasing the initial version of the Single Product Template in the WooCommerce Blocks plugin. Stay tuned!

  3. Sounds very interesting! I can’t wait to use the new checkout block when PayPal is supported.

    1. We expect to have news about the PayPal integration very soon 🙂

      1. Thank you for your reply!
Another request I have is the Ajax support for the add to cart form in woocommerce blocks.
Currently, if I add the Add to cart form in the single product template, when clicking on Add to cart the page is reloaded, instead of adding the product to the cart with ajax.
