The first WooCommerce 9.8 Release Candidate will be delayed due to an issue with WordPress 6.8-beta2.
Hi, folks! We truly appreciate your understanding and support as we strive to bring you the best possible updates to WooCommerce.
We have an important update regarding the WooCommerce 9.8 release schedule.
Initially scheduled for Monday, March 17, 2025, we’ve decided to postpone the release of WooCommerce 9.8-RC1
to Monday, March 24, 2025 with the goal of ensuring full stability for testing throughout both the WooCommerce and WordPress core release process.
Reason for delay
With WordPress 6.8-beta2
, the Site Editor fails to load when WooCommerce is active. After an investigation, we discovered that the culprit is this changeset in core. It looks like that this change is causing issues on the Customizer as well. Our internal team is continually monitoring any changes and working with WordPress core to ensure the stability of WooCommerce releases.
What happens next?
We will check back in on the fix status on March 24, 2025 12pm UTC and let you know if this change will effect the rest of the release schedule for 9.8. We also recommend reading about our upcoming changes to the WooCommerce release process. As always, we’ll keep you informed of any developments through this blog.
Thank you
Your ongoing support and cooperation means the world to us. Thank you for being patient and understanding as we work towards delivering the WooCommerce 9.8 release.
