WooCommerce Contributor Day

Added 2023-04-13: Check out our guide for the latest info.

Mark your calendars for April 19th, 2023, because WooCommerce is hosting a virtual Contributor Day! We’re inviting the Woo community to join our internal engineering teams for a full day of contributions to the WooCommerce Core and WooCommerce Blocks repos.

The event is open to all contributors and will be spanning 24 hours across all time zones. We will have two kick off times to accommodate different timezones:

What to expect

What we’ll be doing

We are asking for a minimum of 4 hours of your time to dedicate to a curated list of issues. These issues have been selected based on the effort needed to solve them –we’re only including issues that we believe can be solved within the day.

Any issues picked up and worked on during contributor day will be merged before the next release. We are committed to making sure this happens because we want to honor the time our community is dedicating to this event.

Where we’ll work

As we get closer to the event, we will create a group of new Slack channels in the WooCommerce Community Slack, themed around the different contribution areas we plan to tackle.

There will also be a dedicated Slack channel to help with any environment issues you may face as you get ready to contribute.

Who will join

This event is open to anyone who would like to contribute to the WooCommerce project.

Woo users from around the community will be participating: engineers from all of our core platform and core product teams, members of our WooExperts community, and hopefully, you!

What’s next?

In the coming days, we will be creating and sharing the Contributor Day Slack channels, the issues that have been selected, and more instructions about getting set up for contributing.

Stay tuned here on the Woo Developer Blog for more updates.
