WooCommerce 10.1 : Pre-release updates

WooCommerce 10.1 is coming soon…

The post will track the work we do as we prepare to release 10.1 as well as provide a preview of what’s to come in this new version.

Release Schedule:

Hey folks, on Monday, July 21, 2025, we kicked-off our Feature Freeze ahead of the release of WooCommerce 10.1. As we begin the testing phase, and get the release ready, we wanted to share some spoilers and document any updates to the expected release timeline.

Check back here for more updates ahead of the WooCommerce 10.1 release, scheduled for Tuesday, August 12, 2025 and read more about our updated release processes going forward.

Whatโ€™s coming in 10.1

๐Ÿ’ธ Direct bank transfer gateway settings improvements: The account number field is now optional and can accept non-numeric values.

โฑ๏ธ Improved loading experience in the Checkout Block: Moving away from a suspense-based approach, the data-driven system renders a full page structure immediately

Experimental/Beta Features

๐Ÿงช Experiment with the Interactivity API powered Mini-Cart: The Interactivity API powered Mini Cart is a new frontend implementation of the Mini Cart block that uses the Interactivity API instead of React. It maintains the same block structure, available attributes, and frontend design, ensuring 100% compatibility with the existing MiniCart. Make sure to download the WooCommerce Beta Tester plugin to test drive this robust feature!

Developer Advisories

๐ŸŒ… Say sayonara to the beta Product Editor: The experimental block-based product editor is officially deprecated. The feature toggle has been removed from the WooCommerce admin UI for most users. While the feature will still be available to folks who already have it enabled, the entire feature will be sunset and removed in the near future.

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Changes to session management: : Updates have been made to how logged-in user sessions are saved. Now, logged-in usersโ€™ sessions are kept only in the session table, matching that of guest users and limiting saved sessions to a maximum of 30 days, aimed at preventing database growth issues resulting from excessive session retention

The beta product editor is being discontinued, but a new v3 version was supposed to come.
    Any updates on that?

    1. Hi, Tommaso! While progress temporarily slowed due to other priorities, we still have team members actively working on building the new version with Data Forms. Additionally, we continue contributing upstream to WordPress Core to unblock the features needed for delivering a modern Product Editor.

WooCommerce has been making significant progress for a long time. However, it still lacks marketing. We still can’t see detailed order statistics (such as user browsing time and which pages they’ve visited).

I’m curious when the WooCommerce team will prioritize this feedback, as third-party plugins don’t offer this feature either.

Looks like Wooโ€™s still busy rolling out experimental stuff and kinda forgetting the old features. Any updates on Cost of Goods? It was supposed to drop in 10 right?

COGS is still in beta as of WooCommerce 10.0, but is available as a beta feature.

  4. Hi there,

Is the address autocomplete feature for the Checkout Block coming to this release? If not, do you know when it’s likely to be implemented?

    1. Hi Raj, the feature is still actively being worked on, but won’t make it into this release.

      1. Thanks for the update.

  5. I would like to request a feature or guidance regarding the layout of the checkout page. Specifically, I am looking to display the coupon form (without toggle) after the cart review section, rather than its current position before the order summary.

This adjustment would greatly enhance the user experience by allowing customers to first review their cart and order details before applying any coupon codes. It aligns more naturally with user flow and expectations.

Could you please advise if there is a recommended way to achieve this through hooks, templates, or any planned updates? Alternatively, if this is not currently possible via customization, I would like to formally request this feature be considered for a future release.

    1. Hi Niraj! In the modern block based Checkout the coupon section defaults to below the cart item summary. Additionally, in this new block based checkout, you also have the freedom to adjust where in the order summary you display the coupon block.

Have you gotten a chance to try the block based Checkout on your store?

  6. I am writing to bring to your attention that there have been official changes to the names and state codes of certain states and union territories in India. These changes have been notified by the Government of India and are now in effect. As such, it is important that WooCommerce updates the list of Indian states and their corresponding codes in order to remain accurate and compliant with official data standards.

Specifically, the following updates need to be reflected in WooCommerce:

Jammu and Kashmir has been reorganized into two separate union territories:
    Jammu and Kashmir (Code: JK)
    Ladakh (Code: LA)
Orissa has been officially renamed to Odisha (Code: OD)
Pondicherry has been officially renamed to Puducherry (Code: PY)
Additionally, it would be helpful if WooCommerce could verify and align all state codes with the latest official Indian Standard (IS 3166 or equivalent government notification).

These updates are essential to ensure that WooCommerce-powered websites in India can collect accurate address data, comply with regulations, and integrate properly with logistics and tax services.

Kindly let me know if this update is already in the roadmap, or if thereโ€™s any further information or assistance I can provide to help implement these changes.

Thank you for your support and continuous improvement of the platform.
