Updated Release Schedule for WooCommerce 10.4

After careful consideration of seasonal demands and community feedback, we’re adjusting the upcoming release calendar starting with WooCommerce 10.4.

What’s changing?

Ahead of WooCommerce 10.4, we’ll be introducing a two-week delay to push the 10.4 release away from Black Friday/Cyber Monday (BFCM).

This adjustment will:

  • Keep WooCommerce 10.3 on its current schedule. There are no changes to this release.
  • Introduce a two-week delay before the WooCommerce 10.4 development cycle. This ensures that there is no major release the week of Black Friday/Cyber Monday.
  • Shift WooCommerce 10.5 to the date originally slated for WooCommerce 10.6. There will be no major release in January. Starting with WooCommerce 10.5, we’ll resume the same 5-week release cadence.

The updated schedule will be:

  • WooCommerce 10.3: Tuesday, October 21, 2025 (not changed)
  • WooCommerce 10.4: Tuesday, December 9, 2025 (previously November 24, 2025)
  • WooCommerce 10.5: Tuesday, Feb 3, 2026 (previously December 30, 2025)
  • Subsequent releases: Every 5 weeks as usual.

These dates, including feature freezes and betas, are now reflected in the WooCommerce release calendar.

Why we’re making this change

This schedule adjustment addresses several key concerns raised by our developer community:

Seasonal Business Demands: BFCM represents the most critical revenue period for ecommerce stores. By avoiding releases during this timeframe, we reduce the risk of introducing changes when stores need maximum stability.

Developer Resource Allocation: The holiday season typically sees reduced availability of core and community development teams for testing and implementation. This shift ensures adequate time for thorough testing and integration.

Moving forward

This adjustment represents our commitment to release timing that better serves the entire WooCommerce ecosystem. We’ll continue to monitor the effectiveness of this schedule and remain open to community feedback.

Feature freeze and beta schedules for each release will maintain their standard timelines relative to the final release dates, ensuring adequate testing periods remain consistent.

Dot releases may still happen when necessary.
