May 28th: Dev Chat #27

As promised in our last Dev Chat on May 2nd, our next Dev Chat will be next Thursday, May 30th at 16:00 UTC in the #core channel of the WooCommerce Community Slack. If you don’t already have access to the group, you can request an invite here.

For this next Dev Chat we like to talk more about WooCommerce 3.7, merging WooCommerce Admin into core, and discuss about increasing our minimum requirements for PHP and WordPress.

As always – if you have any other questions, or topics you would like to chat about during Dev Chat #26, please drop a comment below.

See you all!

  1. A convo about versioning and roadmap.

Is WC still sticking to semantic versioning?
At what point is 4.0 planned? What breaking changes are we expecting to see?
Timeframe to 4.0, how many months/years are we looking at?

  2. With acquisition of WooCommerce subscription, would be great to get insights if this is also merging into WooCommerce core. This is a great long awaited move !

  3. Is #core a private channel – can’t see it on slack. Would like to know whether there’s been any progress on the checkout flow UI update, see the github issue is closed and hasn’t had an update for a while. Thanks! https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/issues/10672

    1. It ins’t a private channel, or you are trying in the different Slack organization.
We are still working in the design of the new checkout flow, nothing yet planned, but we’ll update when we have more details.
