WooCommerce 8.3.0 Beta 1 Released

Beta 1 for the November 14 release of WooCommerce is now available for testing! You can either download it directly from WordPress.org or install our WooCommerce Beta Tester Plugin.

Highlights

Since the release of 8.2.0, the following changes have been made:

  • WooCommerce Blocks has been updated to 11.4.2. See the release notes for 11.4.0 for changes. #41050
  • Improvements to the mobile app onboarding experience. #40559
  • Marketplace search improvements #40667
  • Cart and Checkout Blocks is now the default experience on new WooCommerce installations #40867

  1. I think the move to making cart/checkout blocks the default for ALL themes (not just block themes) could have been better communicated. We found out when our automated tests started failing when we tested with the beta.

    TBH, we chose to put other stuff ahead of that compatibility because we thought it was still a way off. I guess that was my mistake.

    Wondering how other 3rd party devs are feeling about that one?

      A follow-up to that: How big is your team, and what kind of estimates on transitioning to compatibility are you working with? This info could help us figure out how much time in advance we should be communicating dates.
