Iโm very pleased to announce that after a three-month interim period last year, I am now stepping into the role of leading Woo permanently, as Artistic Director. My focus will be on delivering an excellent end-to-end customer experience. This doesnโt change our vision for the future: it strengthens our commitment to evolve WooCommerce and our other products, and deliver a design-forward platform thatโs robust, flexible, and built to scale.
Youโve probably seen my name and face around this blog and in the community for a few years at this point, so you may have an idea what I stand for: I believe in open source, in transparently building great products, and in working directly with WordPress to democratize commerce. My background in engineering, and specifically in the open source and WordPress spaces, mean that Iโm a hands-on leader, who tends to approach Wooโs future from those perspectives. I will continue to bring that point of view to running Woo as a business as well. Iโve been building web-scale systems for about 25 years now, with the last 15 of those at Automattic, and 6 leading Wooโs engineering teams. Everything Iโve learned to date will inform how I approach this role.
Iโd like to thank Paul Maiorana for his amazing leadership over the past 6 years that has brought us to where we are now: powering more online stores than any other platform, and about 9% of all websites. Iโve had the pleasure of working closely with Paul as part of his leadership team, and I deeply respect his vision, tenacity, collaborative spirit, and user-first approach. Luckily for us, he will remain at Automattic, working in another high-impact area and no doubt leading his new team to similar successes.
Make no mistake, we have a lot of work to do! WordPress continues to evolve, and weโre evolving along with it. People expect more from an ecommerce solution than ever before, and weโre actively working to deliver on those expectations. Increasing our community engagement, and getting everyone working together towards the same goals is more important than ever. I firmly believe that Woo is critical to the future of not just everyone who powers their business directly with it, but also the broader ecosystem of solutions builders and developers who work with WooCommerce. Beyond even that, itโs critical to the future of WordPress โ and to the open web itself.
Iโm honored to step into this new role and to continue building upon Wooโs strong vision and success. In 2025, weโre doubling down on product quality and modernizing our platform to meet the increasingly sophisticated demands of modern commerce. I couldnโt be more excited for what the future holds, and Iโd like to thank you all for joining us on this journey. And especially for rolling up your sleeves and working alongside us on the future of WooCommerce!
