August Office Hours: WCUS and WooCommerce Foundations

Join us for August Developer Office Hours on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, to compare notes from WordCamp US and discuss the work underway to strengthen the WooCommerce core plugin.

WordCamp US runs August 16–19 in Phoenix, Arizona. We will meet the following Wednesday, giving attendees and those following from home a place to compare notes on the talks, announcements, and conversations most relevant to building with WooCommerce.

We will also revisit Beau’s recent post, “WooCommerce is the foundation of our entire ecosystem”, and share an early update on the work to improve core performance, reliability, and developer experience. Along the way, we can share more information on contributing to WooCommerce core, including how we’re thinking about AI-empowered contributions.

What to expect

This will be an open, text-based conversation in Slack. We will cover:

• Developer-focused news and takeaways from WordCamp US.
• An update on the first weeks of the WooCommerce core foundations work.
• How the current focus affects extension developers, agencies, contributors, and upcoming product work.
• How issues are being reviewed and prioritized, and how developers can add useful context to existing reports.
• Questions and feedback from the community.

The Foundations work is happening in public in the WooCommerce GitHub repository. If a long-standing bug, workflow problem, missing hook, or compatibility issue is affecting your work, bring the issue link and explain the impact. That context can help the team understand how the problem affects extensions, client stores, and day-to-day development.
